The series Interconnection was inspired by Monika Cicolella's stay in New York and enables her to push her thinking about connections one step further. In this series, Monika Cicolella shows the intensity of a special moment that she experienced in Central Park : a moment of intimate connection with that both natural and urban landscape, which she still feels deeply connected to as of today.

"Every single tree, every single building, every single passer-by, was perfectly in its place, with all their energy. I could feel their vibrations around me, I could feel the presence of each element of the scene", Monika Cicolella explains. "I was fully conscious of the ephemeral nature of that instant but at the same time I was so connected to that specific moment that I knew that it would continue to live in me for a very long time."

In every painting, the artist's gesture is consciously liberated in order to let the brush reveal the richness and the complexity of that moment of life in New York. This is why one single brush stroke gives birth to different patterns. Trees turn into human figures, birds become peoples’ eyes, buildings blend with clouds. Then some other figures appear, which we had not seen at first glance. The reading of the painting varies depending on the viewer : each of us can see a different scene according to his personality and his own connection to the world.
