Why I Paint
I have always been fascinated by the different connections that we can establish as an individual with the world that surrounds us.
Already as a child in my home city in Poland in Communist time, I felt connected not only to Nature but also to something bigger that I wanted to explore.
With time and experience, I have become more and more curious about these connections. This goes far beyond the connection to digital networks in our modern society. As indeed, from prehistoric times, humans have always been connected : to their environment, to each other, to themselves, to their beliefs and to their culture.
Today, what are we really connected to ? How are we connected ? Does it vary in time and space ? Is it specific to each individual ? Can we chose our connections and consequently our disconnections ? What happens when we are connected ? Is it something that we can share ?
As an artist, I explore these connections and interconnections, sharing my vision through my own artistic language. My intention is to propose aesthetic and poetic artworks that also give food for thought. I firmly believe that the energy contained in my artwork should be perceptible by everyone, whatever their origins and culture. I also try to use materials and tools exclusively coming from Nature such as ink, paper, wood, charcoal, ceramics and natural pigments.
